Henrietta McKenzie Allen - "Mrs Hattie Allen, a former Burke resident, died at the home of her son in Toronto on Tuesday. Mrs. Allen was born in Scotland, October 7, 1852, daughter of John and Anne McKenzie and came to America with her parents in 1856. In 1860, the family moved to Burke where most of her life was spent. She was united in marriage with Wilbur Allen, who passed away three years ago. After the death of their youngest daughter Ethel, Mr. and Mrs. Allen moved to Toronto where their sons are in business. She is survived by three sons, John M., Kenneth W., and Lester V., all of Toronto and two daughters, Mrs. Nellie Wison of Toronto and Mrs. W.E. Cranston of Valley Cottage, New York. The funeral was held Thursday at 1:30 pm. from the Burke Presbyterian Church of which Mrs. Allen has been a member for many years. She was a woman of the highest Christian character and her whole life was devoted to all kinds of church work. She leaves many friends in this, her old home town, who will mourn the passing of a good woman and a true friend. The children were all here for the funeral with the exception of Mrs. Nellie Wilson, who is ill."
